Communications

The Communications Division is responsible for handling all incoming calls to the police department. These calls include 9-1-1, emergency, and non-emergency calls for service. In addition, the communications center handles all radio traffic and monitors numerous mutual aid frequencies. After normal business hours, walk-in complaints are also handled at the lobby window by the communications staff. We utilize a CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system to dispatch officers to calls, track the locations of the officers, and input important information into the call records.

We are very proud of the recently renovated state of the art communications center. We have Positron Phase II Compliant 9-1-1 system with mapping, a new 800 MHZ radio system, ergonomic workstations and flat screen monitors.

All personnel are trained in basic telecommunications, 9-1-1, TDD (telephone device for the Deaf), NCIC/FCIC, and problem oriented policing. In addition to our professional duties we all volunteer to participate in community activities.
