Oviedo Police have a new program for drivers and residents to help reduce local vehicle burglaries!

 The bright yellow "Stop Thief" mirror-hangers (Click Here) announce to thieves that the parked car was not left with valuables inside. Each vinyl 3 ½ by 9 inch mirror hanger reminds drivers and vehicle owners not to leave valuables where thieves can benefit by committing a burglary.  The hanging "Stop Thief" placards will be handed out to drivers by Oviedo police officers and by volunteer members of "Community On Patrol." Hangers also will be available at the C.O.P.S. & Volunteer Center at Oviedo Marketplace (by Dillard’s) and at the Oviedo Police Department, 300 Alexandria Boulevard next to City Hall.The "Stop Thief" hangers have the telephone number to call any time you see something suspicious in Oviedo. The number, 407-971-5700, connects directly to the dispatchers in Oviedo’s Police communications center.The hanger also reminds everyone who sees a crime in progress to call 9-1-1.Join the effort to reduce crime in your community by removing valuables and locking your vehicles, whether they are parked in a public lot or in your driveway.
