Federal Stimulus Money Earmarked for Lockwood Blvd. Resurfacing

The Federal Government through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), which is better known as Federal Stimulus Dollars, awarded the City of Oviedo $1.2 Million for the resurfacing and reconstruction of a 1.8 mile section of Lockwood Blvd.  In addition, another $500,000 was recently awarded for the construction of eight-foot and six-foot sidewalk/trail on the west side of the roadway.

Lockwood Blvd is a two lane rural road that serves several residential developments and is located between CR419 and CR426.

This roadway experienced high groundwater conditions created by Tropical Storm Fay in 2008 resulting in severe road failure.

Construction on the resurfacing project is currently underway and the City is awaiting a Notice to Proceed from FDOT on the sidewalk/trail project.
