City Beautification Master Plan and Study

The City's Beautification and Master Plan identified locations within the City as potential gateway entrances.  Seven locations were identified as potential gateway entrances, four of which are on State and County, requiring jurisdictional coordination.

The City engaged the services of Bellomo Herbert, a Professional Landscape Architectural Firm, to design three of the seven recommended gateways.

Today, you will find two of the three gateways constructed at the North and South Lockwood Road entrances to the City.  The third gateway location on Mitchell Hammock Road has been delayed due to property acquisition issues.

The Beautifican Plan also identified landscape improvements in the State Route 434 median between Chapman Road and Mitchell Hammock Road.  These landscape improvements are now complete.  The Florida Department of Transportation reimbursed the City for the full cost of installation, but ongoing landscape maintenance and irrigation is performed by the City.
