After years of growth and expansion, the City's Public Works Department has outgrown its infrastructure. In an effort to relieve the crowded City Hall Administration Building and to give the Department an effective modern center to operate out of, a new Public Works Complex is currently underway. 

In May of 2005, City Council approved a resolution authorizing the site design and associated services for a new Public Works facility to be construction on Evans Street.  The design was completed and land acquisition needs were identified.  On November 7, 2006, City of Oviedo residents approved the bond issue referendum which provided for the funding necessary to proceed.  

 The first step of this project included a fuel depot located on Evans Street near the Public Works Operations Building which is now complete and operational.  The next step of the process was a new Public Works Administration Building which was completed in June of 2009 and currently houses Public Works Administration, Engineering and Utilities staff.

In October of 2011 renovations to the City's Fleet Maintenance Building located at 1650 Evans Street were completed.  This building houses the Public Works Operations Department and the Fleet Maintenance Department.  Staff is currently focusing attention on the next step of the project which involves an Equipment Wash and Storage Building.  This is currently in the design phase.
