The Oviedo Police Explorer Post 851 is chartered by the Boys Scouts of America through their Learning for Life program and hosted by the Oviedo Police Department.
NOTE: Funding for the program comes from generous donations and fundraising efforts by the explorers. 
What will I gain?: As an explorer you will learn discipline, self respect, principles of law enforcement, and community involvement. An explorer will also earn community service hours for school credit for participating.
What should I expect?: Oviedo Police Explorers learn various aspects of police work. They build on the above principles to gain and understanding of team work and accomplishment.

Applications are available at the COPS and Volunteer Center in the Oviedo Marketplace Mall.
What opportunities will I have?: Explorers learn about building searches, traffic control, traffic stops, and much more. As a member of the program you will assist law enforcement with events like Great Day in the Country and Taste of Oviedo. Explorers may ride with an Oviedo Police Officer and attend explorer related camps and team building functions.
Who is in the Explorers?: The Post is comprised of both male and females between the ages of 14 to 18 years of age. Each member must have completed the 8th grade before they are accepted into the program.
