Are you looking for a fun and rewarding job? American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the place to start! Lifeguarding puts you in an exciting position, working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy aquatic activities.
Completetion of course does not guarantee employment with the City of Oviedo.
Course Requirements:
- Minimum age of 15 by course completion
- Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
- Swim 20 yards using freestyle or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 ft. and retrive a 10 lb. brick and swim 20 yards back with two hands on the brick keeping your face above water and climb onto the pool deck within 1 minute and 40 seconds
- Swimming requirements will be completed on the first scheduled day of the course
Courses:
Due to pool repairs we will be unable to offer Lifeguarding Classes in 2012.
General Information:
- Swimming requirements must be completed and passed in order to continue the class
- If course is cancelled by the Recreation Department, your fees will be refunded
- Completion of the class does not guarantee employment with the City of Oviedo
- To recieve certifications, the participant must pass all written and skill tests
- With the completion and passing of the Red Cross Lifeguarding Course you will recieve the following certifications: ARC Lifeguarding & First Aid; ARC CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer
