Reporting Streetlight Outages

HELPFUL HINTS

  • Report outages immediately. Don't wait to compile a list of outages. The sooner an outage is reported, the sooner Progress Energy can respond.

  • It is important that we have good contact information in case we need more information. Please provide a valid phone number.

  • When identifying outages, please provide the closest physical building/premise address. For example, “the light in front of 3000 4th St. N.,” rather than “light out at 4th St. N. and 30th Ave. N.” This allows our lighting technicians to locate the light quickly, even during daylight hours.

  • Please provide good directions to the light, especially if the light is part of a large complex (or include comments if issuing Online) - for example, "Light out on SW corner of Wal-Mart parking lot across from Dollar General" is preferable to "Light out in Wal-Mart parking lot."

  • If possible, provide a pole number or mark the pole with colored tape (in addition to the closest physical address and good directions).

  • Please provide details on the outage, such as whether the light is cycling on and off, whether there is noticeable damage to the fixture and/or pole, or whether the light is constantly on.
