Oviedo Police, Great News For Our Veterans

The Oviedo Police Department has been approved by the Veterans Administration (V. A.) as an official training site. Oviedo is one of the few police departments in this area to be recognized as a training site and is one of only 10 municipalities recognized in the State of Florida. This designation allows qualified veterans who are hired as police officers and police dispatchers to receive significant V. A. benefits while they train as new employees. This benefit can amount to as much as $913 per month for the first six months and $698 per month for the 2nd six months of employment training. These benefits are payable to eligible officers and communications personnel during the standard one year of field training or probationary period.

Florida is home to 1.9 million veterans and has the fastest growing veteran population in the nation. The Oviedo Police Department highly values and actively recruits veterans to join its growing number of veteran employees. Any person interested in police officer or police dispatcher employment can call 407-971-5729.
