Boards/Committees (Information and Application Process): 
   

Any resident of the City of Oviedo who desires to serve on one of the City's Boards or Committees must complete an interest form available at the City Clerk's Office in City Hall at 400 Alexandria Blvd., or by fax by calling 407-971-5500. The form may also be accessed below.  To be considered for positions where the incumbent's term ends on December 31, 2011, the interest form should be submitted no later than October 30, 2011.  If you wish to be considered for any vacancy that exists during FY2010/2011 you must submit a current interest form application, located below.

A description of the Boards follows:

City Tree Board  

Mission: Advise and recommend matters pertaining to tree management.
Term: 3 years
Meeting Times: 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. or as called
Meeting Locations:    Public Works Building, 1655 Evans Street

 

Charter Review Committee

It is the task of the Charter Review Committee to examine the charter and suggest changes that will make the City operate more efficiently.  This Committee convenes every five years or as needed at the pleasure of the City Council.

 

Code Enforcement Board
Mission: Provide methods of enforcement of City codes. 

Term: 3 years
Meeting Times: 4th Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m., one meeting will be held for the months of November and December, date to be determined.

Development Review Committee (this board has no public members)
Mission: Considers Site development orders, building permits, and other development permits that require a deviation of 20% or less of a minimum Land Development Code (LDC) requirement; Site development orders within the New Downtown Village Core District and New Downtown District, and any amendments or modifications; Non-statutory subdivision plan applications, including amendments, that do not meet all LDC criteria; and any application or interpretation referred by the Land Use Administrator. Makes recommendations on applications for annexation, comprehensive plan amendments, zoning map amendments, land development code amendments, special exception use orders, preliminary subdivision plans, final plats, replats, planned unit developments, development agreements, developments of regional impact, master land use plans, special event applications with a fee waiver request, site development orders that require a deviation greater than 20% of a minimum LDC requirement, amendments to the development approvals listed herein, and appeals. The DRC shall perform any other duties assigned by the City Manager and may conduct pre-application conferences as recommended by the Land Use Administrator.
Term: On-Going - Consists of City Manager, Development Services Director, Building Official, City Engineer, and Fire Chief.
Meeting Times: Every Thursday at 2:00 p.m.

Firefighters’ Pension Board
Mission: Administers and manages the pension system and serves as trustee for the fund
Term: 2 years
Meeting Times: Quarterly at 4:00 p.m. as noticed
Meeting Locations: Fire Dept.Headquarters – 1934 West County Road 419, Oviedo, FL 32765

 

Infraction Hearing BoardApplications are being accepted for the newly created Infractions Hearing Board. Consists of 7 members, who are residents of the City of Oviedo, 5 appointed by City Council and 2 recommended to Council by the Chief of Police.
Mission:  Hear contests to infraction notices.
Term: 2 years  
Meeting Times: As required
Meeting Locations:  To be determined   

 

Planning Zoning and Appeals Board
Mission: Considers applications for Comprehensive Plan amendments, Land Development Code amendments, Zoning Map amendments, deviations to Land Development Code standards associated with building permit applications, special exception use orders, preliminary subdivision plans, planned unit developments, master land use plans, development agreements, and appeals of Development Review Committee actions pertaining to building permits.
Term: 3 years
Meeting Times: 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Police Officers Pension Board
Mission: Responsible for managing the system and serve as trustee of the fund
Term: 2 years
Meeting Times: Quarterly at 6:00 p.m. as noticed
Meeting Locations: Police Department  

 

Recreation and Parks Advisory Board
Mission: Provides support and feedback to Recreation and Parks on events within the community
Term: On-Going
Meeting Times: Bi-Monthly or as needed
